Hi, Iām Jodie, Creator and Owner of BOXYBOO MANCHESTER. I set up this business during lockdown;
I started with selling flower boxes to family and friends on my Facebook then I just grew from there.
I had trained as a florist twenty years earlier with the intention of opening my own florist one day, and before we had social media I used to rent artificial displays out to local businesses however when the supermarkets started selling fresh flowers at prices the independent retailer could not compete with, my enthusiasm for opening a florist declined. My passion for making things look pretty has remained though. As a child I remember always being deeply fascinated by the huge flowers my grandad so proudly grew in his garden, each having their own support stick (due to the heads being so large) that he would neatly tie them to⦠I was mesmerised by the beauty of those
flowers and the care he took to grow them. I am not so green fingered and donāt manage to keep any plants alive long enough to enjoy them (mainly because of my busy lifestyle) therefore artificial flowers are the perfect alternative for me⦠however I dislike the ones that look really āfakeā therefore I spend literally hundreds of hours sourcing the best artificial flowers available from UK based suppliers so I can create realistic, classy flower displays that will last for many years to come.
People often ask me which of my displays on my social media are artificial and when I tell them they are ALL artificial they donāt believe me ā which makes me smile inside and makes me feel like I am achieving my goal. When creating larger/commercial flower installations then looking real isnāt always necessaryā¦.. most people just want to create an impact and due to size/volume of flowers required/budget restrictions then ālooking realā isnāt always important however I will always design displays that look classy and enhance a space to its best potential within the budget agreed.
Customer satisfaction is number one most important thing to me.
My main job is painting kitchens & furniture with my dad ā but floral artistry is my passion⦠my dream is that one day this will become my main income and this year I am hoping to attract more commercial projects as that is when I can be really creative, and stand back from a job and feel really proud thinking āI made thatā.
